29 September 2024–18 January 2025
One of the most significant sculptors working today Thomas Schütte creates a universe of intimate watercolours, monumental figurative sculptures, vivid ceramics, architectural models, and fully realised buildings which stand side-by-side as inquiries into aesthetics, history, and culture. This exhibition, the most comprehensive in the United States of Schütte's career, explores the dazzling variety of his work and locates the through lines that can connect a bunker to a bust. On view in the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Center for Special Exhibitions from 29 September 2024–18 January 2025 the exhibition includes Schütte's sculptures, drawings, prints, and experiments in architecture.
Thomas Schütte's exhibition is organised by Paulina Pobocha, former Associate Curator, Department of Painting and Sculpture, MoMA, and Caitlin Chaisson, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Painting and Sculpture, MoMA.
