The book is a comprehensive monograph about Bartolini, from his beginnings to today and is intended as a guide to orient in a multifaceted research, made up of an incredible variety of languages and materials: from performative works to drawings; from large public installations to small sketch-works assembled in the studio; from sound sculptures to photographs and videos.
The publication is divided into four parts: the first brings together the curatorial texts and essays by international authors who explore the themes and the language of Massimo Bartolini; the second houses a rich iconographic section arranged chronologically; the third is an in-depth look at the sound installation In là (2021–2022), created specifically for the museum spaces on the occassion of the exhibition and accompanied by the polyphonic score of the musician Gavin Bryars; the last one houses the most complete bio-bibliographic materials colleected so far on the artist.
This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition Massimo Bartolini: Hagoromo at Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci (16 September 2022–May 1 2023) curated by Luca Cerizza with Elena Magini.
