Comprising a signed and numbered copy of the first edition of Base Matter and Uncommon Solvent, the book is combined in a slipcase with a monoprint specially hand produced by Tacita Dean with Gemini G.E.L. in Los Angeles. The new work is titled Fountain of Eternal Youth, 2024 and consists in a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered unique monoprints, each housed in a folding linen bound presentation sleeve.
Base Matter and Uncommon Solvent is an overdue comprehensive survey of drawings, prints, collages, and objects that are directly drawn, marked, or altered by Tacita Dean. The chosen works differentiate from those made using mechanical reproduction, such as photographs, purely image-based etching and screenprints, and her 16mm and 35mm films.
